The Circular Construction Cluster, initiated by the RECONMATIC project and led by project partner Future Needs, is funded by the European Union. It brings together European projects, academia,  and industry stakeholders to address one of the biggest environmental challenges in the construction sector - construction and demolition waste (CDW).

Upcoming Webinar

Join the Circular Construction Cluster for a webinar on how a shared glossary can remove friction and speed up circular construction in real projects. We will look at where terminology breaks down across procurement, reporting, and collaboration, and how a practical, maintained glossary can become a reliable cluster asset that people actually use.

Date: Wednesday, 18 February 2026
Time: 11:00–11:45 CET
Format: short talks, reflections, mini panel, Q&A

What you will get

  • A clear view of how glossary work supports circularity in day-to-day practice

  • Examples of “high-friction” terms and how to resolve them consistently

  • A simple path to help the Cluster turn this into a usable web resource

Speakers

  • Philip Griffiths (Ulster University, CircularB)

  • Juan Ferriz-Papi (University of Salford, RECONMATIC)

  • Sami Sechante (Future Needs, RECONMATIC)

Moderator

  • Christopher Aguilar (Future Needs)

Agenda:

  • Welcome and housekeeping (Future Needs)

  • CircularB glossary overview and use cases (Philip Griffiths)

About the cluster

Our mission

The construction sector:

  • Provides 18 million direct jobs in the EU.

  • Contributes to 9% of the EU’s GDP.

  • Plays a crucial role in addressing social, climate, and energy challenges.

  • Accounts for over one-third of all waste generated in the EU.

By preventing, reusing, and recycling CDW, we move closer to a fully circular and climate-neutral sector.

Our goals

  • Nurture collaboration between projects and industry.

  • Exchange valuable knowledge on circularity in construction.

  • Increase the impact of innovative results across Europe

Circularity is not only about developing new technologies - such as AI, robotics, automation, and digital twins - but also about creating new collaboration frameworks, improving regulations, and promoting recycled and reused construction materials.

Why it matters

Through the Circular Construction Cluster, we aim to:

  • Develop and demonstrate solutions for industry collaboration and waste traceability.

  • Create learning resources for current and future construction professionals.

  • Contribute to standards and best practices that advance circularity.

The RECONMATIC project proposes innovative tools and techniques to manage CDW throughout the building and infrastructure lifecycle, helping the EU meet targets for waste and energy reduction.
