On 12 September 2025, RECONMATIC partner Dr. Teresa Ros Dosdá, from ITC - Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica, presented results of ‘A Comprehensive Guidance Tool for Sustainable and Circular Construction Waste Management’ at the 12th International Conference on Life Cycle Management (LCM2025) in Palermo, Italy.

The LCM (Life Cycle Management) Conference Series is one of the world’s leading forums on environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Organised every two years, it brings together practitioners and academia to explore practical solutions for implementing life cycle approaches in science, industry, NGOs, and public institutions. This year’s edition, held under the theme “Global to Local”, provided a stage for showcasing methods, tools, and best practices for a sustainable transition, with a strong focus on participatory approaches and multi-stakeholder engagement.
In her presentation, Teresa introduced RECONMATIC’s systematic guidance tool, developed to integrate sustainability and circularity into Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) management across the entire building and infrastructure life cycle. The tool, co-created with key stakeholders, is accessible to non-experts across the value chain - from designers and architects to waste managers and recyclers.
Key highlights of the tool include:
A framework of 110 indicators across five dimensions: environmental, social, economic, technical, and management & governance.
Alignment with international standards, sustainability assessment schemes, and regulations.
Actionable recommendations to help professionals evaluate and enhance sustainability performance.
Validation through six demonstrators applying RECONMATIC technologies in real-world projects and recycling plants.
The construction sector is responsible for 35.7% of EU waste, primarily generated during construction and demolition activities. Funded by the Horizon Europe programme, the RECONMATIC project develops advanced tools, digital solutions, and robotic systems to prevent, minimise, and valorise CDW, aiming for a zero-waste construction industry.
