Following the first RECONMATIC interactive brochure that provided an overview of the project's mission and the team behind it, the RECONMATIC project has published its second issue. This issue takes a deep dive into the work of BIMBox, one of the RECONMATIC partners and a centre of excellence for digital construction consultancy.
BIMBox is working closely with Morgan Sindall Construction and the University of Salford across four key project themes within RECONMATIC. In this interactive brochure, you’ll explore their journey across the following topics:
Navigating the WASTEie Journey – Discover the process map that tracks how and when construction and demolition (C&D) waste is generated throughout a building’s lifecycle.
Implementing Information Management – Learn how the team is integrating waste data into everyday workflows to make waste tracking more efficient and useful, using tools like the IFC schema and buildingSMART data dictionaries.
Using a Data Dictionary to Enrich the IFC Schema – Dive into how standardised data tools like the buildingSMART Data Dictionary (bSDD) are being used to make waste information clearer and easier to share. The brochure highlights the use of bSDD to publish a set of properties that could enhance the reusability and recycling of components and materials.
The Future of Construction Waste Management – Take a look ahead at how digital tools, openBIM standards, and case studies are helping to move the industry toward zero waste.
The WASTEie initiative is a crucial step towards a more sustainable and circular construction industry. This brochure demonstrates the power of collaborative research and open data standards in tackling one of our sector’s biggest challenges.
We invite you to explore the full interactive brochure and join the conversation as the project continues to develop practical, real-world solutions. Your feedback and participation are essential in shaping a greener future for the built environment.
COMING SOON - New Training Courses on Circular Construction: The RECONMATIC project is not only developing new data standards but also creating educational resources to help the industry adopt them. These resources will make the latest insights and results from the project easily accessible to professionals and anyone interested in circular construction and demolition practices.
The training program will consist of nine lectures, one of which is titled, "WASTEie – how to integrate recyclability and similar aspects in the BIM". This lecture will cover fundamental topics that emphasize the need for structured data and openBIM standards, which are essential not only to drive efficiency but also to promote sustainability in construction.
