Jan Valentin

- FCE CVUT

Jan Valentin is an associated professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University (FCE CVUT) and

was coordinating RECONMATIC project. He is active for more than 20 years in the fields of road

engineering and pavement materials, recycling and sustainability. Since 2004 employed by FCE CVUT.


Presently deputy head of the Department of Road Structures and senior researcher. Part time also

working for last 6 years as sustainability manager for the Czech branch of HOCHTIEF (spent already

over 23 years with this company). He got his Ph.D. from CTU in Prague focusing on cold recycling

performance characterization in pavement structures in 2009.


His main areas of research and scientific interest are: recycling and valorization of CDW, sustainability

of road materials, warm mix asphalts, bitumen modification, performance testing of asphalt

mixtures. He is further interested in collaborative business models and schemes like PPP and in

promoting digitalization in the road construction industry.


Jan represents Czech Republic in the HSE committee of European Asphalt Pavements Association, he

was a member of Internation Association for Spatial Structures (IASS);
