Jan Pešta is a senior researcher at the University Centre for Energy
Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University in Prague (UCEEB
CTU). He works in the fields of sustainable construction materials,
recycling technologies, circular economy, and environmental assessment
of building products and infrastructure. Since joining UCEEB CTU, he has
been involved in numerous national and international research projects
focused on innovation in construction and resource efficiency.
Presently, he works as team leader for Cirucular building team, which
aims to implement circular principles into built environment using tools
for life-cycle assessment (LCA) and predemolition auditing and material
recovery mapping.
He obtained his Ph.D. from the Czech Technical University in Prague,
focusing on sustainable construction technologies and environmental
impacts of construction materials. His research combines technical,
environmental, and economic aspects of material utilization and
recycling processes.
His main areas of research and scientific interest are: circular economy
in construction, recycling and valorization of construction and
demolition waste (CDW), life-cycle assessment (LCA), environmental
product declarations (EPD), sustainable building materials,
digitalization in the construction sector, and resource-efficient
technologies. He is further interested in interdisciplinary
collaboration between academia and industry and in promoting innovation
and sustainability in the built environment.
