RECONMATIC innovation powers new spin-off for AI-driven building digitisation
Constriq s.r.o., whose Cloud2BIM open-source version was developed as one of the outputs of the RECONMATIC, is the first spin-off of the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague and also the sixth spin-off of CTU as such. The foundation of the company is also linked to the ROBOPROX research project (Excellent Research Call of the Johannes Amos Comenius Operational Programme). The newly established company focuses on developing software for the automated conversion of 3D point clouds from building scans into BIM models in IFC format.
Its key product is the Cloud2BIM software and the upcoming Cloud2BIM-AI version, which address one of the biggest weaknesses of current digitisation practice in the building industry - i.e. the extreme time and financial demands for creating digital models. Today, this process is mainly handled manually by specialists who spend days or weeks processing data in CAD tools.
Constriq’s goal is to offer the entire process of converting 3D scans into digital models within a single tool and with minimal user intervention.
The founders of the Constriq spin-off are academics from the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague – Doc. Václav Nežerka, Doc. Jan Valentin, Ing. Slávek Zbirovský, and Ing. Pavel Trávníček, Ph.D. The team at the CTU Technology Transfer Centre significantly contributed to the spin-off establishment by providing the founders with legal, licensing, and business support, and guiding them through the entire process of setting up the company.
The unique benefit of the Cloud2BIM solution lies in the significant acceleration and cost reduction of the entire process thanks to the use of advanced algorithms and proprietary artificial intelligence models. The upcoming Cloud2BIM-AI version will enable users to save over 90% of the time they would otherwise have to spend on monotonous manual work in typical scenarios, while also increasing the accuracy and consistency of the resulting BIM models.
Market interest in Constriq’s application has already been confirmed by the Cloud2BIM open-source version, which was developed as one of the outputs of the RECONMATIC European project, addressed within the Horizon Europe and funded by the European Commission and the UK Research and Innovation Horizon Europe guarantee scheme.
